Current cases 

77 Degrees Rooftop Bar Death

Michelle represents the family of Christopher Hill, a young man who fell to his death from the 77 Degrees rooftop bar in Dallas on March 12, 2022. The family is suing the bar for negligence, claiming there was not enough security to properly monitor the large crowd on the night of the incident, and that the protective railings surrounding the rooftop bar were too low. 77 Degrees rooftop bar initially was non-cooperative with the police investigation but has since released a statement claiming the young man jumped to his death. The investigation is still ongoing.

Dallas BLM Protest

Michelle was one of the lead lawyers on a legal team representing Black Lives Matter protesters against the City of Dallas who obtained an injunction preventing the use of rubber bullets and tear gas in Dallas in May and June 2020.

She represents a young woman who was injured during a protest in Dallas on June 1, 2020, following the murder of George Floyd. Michelle’s client was one of many peaceful protesters who were shot with rubber bullets by Dallas police officers, sprayed with tear gas, and then had their arms zip-tied behind their backs while being forced to lay face down on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge for several hours before receiving medical attention. Michelle and other civil rights attorneys filed a lawsuit against the city of Dallas and the Dallas Police department for the brutality that occurred that day. Case Studies

Las Vegas MGM shooting

Michelle was the first attorney to file a lawsuit in connection with the MGM Las Vegas shooting resulting in an $800 million settlement. She represented a young woman who was attending the Route 91 Harvest Music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 1, 2017, when she was struck by a bullet as Stephen Paddock fired out of his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Oncor Electric Company

Michelle was a key member of the legal team that obtained a settlement (amount confidential) for the family of a 20-year-old man who was killed when his tractor struck a power line in Texas in July 2018. Michelle and the other attorneys representing the family claimed the Oncor Electric Delivery Company’s reckless disregard for the young man’s safety led to his death. Learn more here.
